Fabric Information

Nomex IIIA® - Nomex® is an advanced thermal technology from DuPont for end use applications where resistance to heat and flame is a vital performance characteristic. Nomex® is used in a variety of forms as an insulating material, for hot gas industrial filtration, in auto parts, transformers and electric motors. In fibre form, Nomex® also has superior textile properties, enabling fabric and garment manufacturers to produce comfortable, long-wearing and attractive protective clothing.

Kermel® - New to the North American marketplace, Kermel® fibers were developed more than 20 years ago in Colmar, France. They continue to be the aramid fiber of choice in Europe. Kermel® fibers have “built-in” flame resistance. This means that all fabrics and garments made from Kermel® fibers will assume these same flame resistant properties and will need no further flame Resistant treatments, coatings or finishes.

Indura Ultra Soft® - Westex’s Indura Ultra Soft® flame resistant fabrics are a blend of 88% cotton and 12% high tenacity nylon. The nylon fibers are intimately blended with cotton fibers in the warp yarns. These fibers are spun using ring-spinning technology to produce the highest strength fabric possible. The product is engineered to focus the excellent abrasion resistance of the nylon on the face of the fabric to enhance garment wear life, while the cotton fibers are focused towards the skin to optimize comfort.
The fabrics are fully flame resistant and the addition of 12% nylon in no way represents a hazard to the wearer. The 12% nylon actually enhances the protective performance in some cases, such as an electric arc and flash fire exposures.

Indura® - Westex’s original Indura® flame resistant 100% cotton fabrics are specification materials engineered by people to provide optimum performance characteristics for industrial protective clothing. Introduced over a decade ago, Indura® fabrics became the first effective competitor to synthetic flame resistant fabrics using a propietary process unlike any other in the market today. Westex utilizes high strength ring-spun yarns in the construction of the base fabric and only the highest quality dyes available for cotton fabrics are used in the dyeing process. Westex engineers flamable fibres into flame resistant fabrics that will remain flame resistant for the life of the garment. This fabric is ideal for multi-cross over protection to Arc flash, flash fire, molten metals, and welding.

Excel - ComforTouch FR - is made from durable flame resistant 100 % cotton or a blend of 88 % cotton and 12 % nylon, for added durability and colour fastness. Excel FR is available in a variety of colors and weights. Both of these products are manufactured by Bulwark Protective Apparel as their exclusive cotton fabric offering. Excel FR can be used in many applications such as oil, gas, electrical utilities, petrochemical and chemical plants. Excel FR is guaranteed to be flame resistant for the life of the garment.

What to consider when choosing FR fabrics and garments:

- the product and striping both be flame resistant and duarbale to laundering

- suitability to the work environment with both comfort and protection in mind

- meet all applicable standards

- provide  multi cross-over protection for various work hazards.

- quality of products used in manufacturing
